Mild Lactic Acid Stress Causes Strain-Dependent Reduction in SEC Protein Levels

چکیده
Staphylococcal enterotoxin C (SEC) is a major cause of staphylococcal food poisoning in humans and plays role bovine mastitis. Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) benefits from competitive growth advantage under stress conditions encountered foods such as low pH. Therefore, understanding the stressors lactic acid on SEC production pivotal relevance to safety. However, stress-dependent cues their effects expression are still poorly understood. In this study, we used human animal strains harboring different variants order evaluate influence mild (pH 6.0) both transcriptional translational level. Although only modest decrease sec mRNA levels was observed stress, protein showed significant for some strains. These findings indicate that post-transcriptional modifications can act stress.

Reduction of Lactic Acid, Nonprotein Nitrogen, and Ash in Lactic Acid Whey by Candida ingens Culture.
A simple, efficient procedure for removing lactic acid and for reducing nonprotein nitrogen and ash in lactic acid whey has been developed. The procedure consists of culturing Candida ingens on the whey. This organism could assimilate >98% of the lactic acid and approximately 40% of the nonprotein nitrogen. Ash reduction of up to 45% resulted from precipitation of calcium apatite due to the inc...
متن کاملRepeated stress exposure causes strain-dependent shifts in the behavioral economics of cocaine in rats.
Cocaine-experienced Wistar and Wistar Kyoto (WKY) rats received four daily repeated forced swim stress sessions (R-FSS), each of which preceded 4-hour cocaine self-administration sessions. Twenty-four hours after the last swim stress, cocaine valuation was assessed during a single-session threshold procedure. Prior exposure to R-FSS significantly altered cocaine responding in Wistar, but not WK...
متن کاملDrought Stress Causes a Reduction in the Biosynthesis of Ascorbic Acid in Soybean Plants
Drought provokes a number of physiological changes in plants including oxidative damage. Ascorbic acid (AsA), also known as vitamin C, is one of the most abundant water-soluble antioxidant compound present in plant tissues. However, little is known on the regulation of AsA biosynthesis under drought stress conditions. In the current work we analyze the effects of water deficit on the biosynthes...
متن کاملSingle exposure to stressors causes long-lasting, stress-dependent reduction of food intake in rats.
A single exposure to severe stressors has been shown to cause anorexia in the next 24 h, but the duration of such alterations is not known. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to different stressors, and food intake was measured for several days after stress. In experiment 1, 2 h of immobilization (Imo) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) administration (1,000 microgram/kg) caused a marked anorexi...
متن کاملReconstitution of SEC gene product-dependent intercompartmental protein transport.
Transport of alpha-factor precursor from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus has been reconstituted in gently lysed yeast spheroplasts. Transport is measured through the coupled addition of outer-chain carbohydrate to [35S]methionine-labeled alpha-factor precursor translocated into the endoplasmic reticulum of broken spheroplasts. The reaction is absolutely dependent on ATP, stimul...
